Graduate profile and learning objectives:
The content of the doctoral study program is focused on the study of oncology. During the doctoral study, the student acquires knowledge in the field of oncology in this study program. During the study, the student will learn to independently formulate a scientific problem, formulate a scientific hypothesis, prepare and implement a scientific experiment, use scientific methods in research, objectively evaluate the results and their statistical analysis. The main goal of these activities will be theoretical as well as practical mastery of scientific methods. Graduates of the study program will focus on oncology. The requirement to complete the study program is also the ability to present their own research results to the professional public at conferences and scientific events and in the form of publishing articles in professional and scientific journals. The results of creative experimental work not only contribute to the development of science and scientific knowledge, but their proper scientific value allows their clinical application in various fields of medicine, especially in clinical oncology, radiation oncology, oncology in gynaecology, oncology in urology, oncology in surgery, pediatric oncology and other clinical disciplines.
Employability:
Graduates of the submitted doctoral study program are currently in demand mainly at the departments of the Ministry of Health (1st Department of Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University in Bratislava and St. Elisabeth Cancer Institute in Bratislava, 2nd Department of Oncology Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University in Bratislava and National Cancer Institute in Bratislava, Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University in Bratislava and National Institute for Childrens Diseases in Bratislava, Department of Oncology University Hospital Trnava, Department of Oncology, University Hospital in Trenčín, Department of Oncology, Slovak Health University and F. D. Roosevelt Memorial University Hospital in Banská Bystrica, Department of Clinical Oncology and Department of Radiation Oncology, East Slovak Cancer Institute in Košice. They can apply within the Ministry of Education as university teachers or researchers at universities with a focus on medicine, health sciences, public health and biological sciences. medical research, which are able to apply creatively in their work and thus contribute to the development of scientific knowledge. They have the prerequisites for successful application in leading teams in a wide range of scientific and research institutions focused on medical, veterinary, pharmaceutical and biological sciences, they are professionally trained to work creatively in scientific institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences at various levels of research. The performance of the profession also requires the completion of an accredited study program of specialized study in the medical profession, they include a doctor - clinical oncologist, radiation oncologist, pediatric oncologist, resp. oncologist in some other clinical disciplines.
